CCMS 7th Grade Bands
Kentucky Music Educators Association
Concert Band Festival
On Tuesday March 6th the CCMS 7th Grade Concert Band will be performing at the Kentucky Music Educators Concert Band Festival at Northern Kentucky University Greaves Hall. Concert Festival is the middle school band’s form of state assessment. The band will be judged by three judges and given a rating of novice, apprentice, proficient, or distinguished. The students will travel during the school day that morning, a detailed schedule will be sent home closer to the date. This is a required public performance, as outlined in the band handbook, and a part of your child’s grade. In order to be properly prepared for this performance, we are going to have three after school rehearsals. The after school rehearsals will be on Thursday February 16, Thursday March 1 and Monday March 5 at CCMS until 5:00 pm. These rehearsals are extremely important for the success of our performance. Students who do not attend the after school rehearsals will not be allowed to perform with the band at the festival. Extreme exceptions can be made, but the parent and student must contact Mr. Fuller. Students who are excused will make up the time with Mr. Fuller.
There will be extra instructors and guest conductors at these rehearsals. This will help our band perform at the highest level and receive distinguished ratings from the judges at the festival. If you are available to chaperone on March 6th please contact me, we need a couple of parents per bus to help monitor the students while we are on the trip and some parents can drive separate. Please call or email if you have any questions, concerns or conflicts.
