Stephen Dietsch, Director of Bands, CCMS

Mr. Stephen Dietsch joined the faculty of Campbell County Middle School in 2013 after having been actively involved with the band program since 2010. Under Mr. Dietsch’s direction, the 7th & 8th grade concert bands consistently receive distinguished ratings at KMEA’s Performance Assessment. The CCMS Jazz Band has also received distinguished ratings at State Jazz Assessment. During Mr. Dietsch’s time at CCMS the jazz programs have expanded to include TWO separate after school bands. Jazz Band is a traditional, auditioned ensemble focusing on various jazz styles including swing and latin jazz, while Show Band is open to all band students regardless of experience or instrument.

In addition to teaching private lessons on various band instruments, Mr. Dietsch has also been an adjudicator for events such as KMEA’s Solo & Ensemble Festival and Select Band auditions. Mr. Dietsch was chosen as Middle School “Teacher of the Year” for KMEA District 6 in 2016.

Mr. Dietsch is a graduate of duPont Manual High School and the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, KY. He received his B.M. Music Education from Northern Kentucky University in 2010 and completed his M.A.T. in Elementary Education through the University of the Cumberlands in 2013. Mr. Dietsch earned his Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Morehead State University in 2021. His professional affiliations include the Kentucky Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators, North American Saxophone Alliance, and Kappa Kappa Psi. Mr. Dietsch currently resides in Crestview, KY with his wife Rachel and their energetic children, Logan James and Margaret Rose.
